Anyway, we carved a pumpkin when I got home from work. It wasn't that artistic but I'm still amused with this tradition because we don't have anything like this back home. We bought bunches of candies for trick or treaters but too bad, there's not much kids in our area so I only get one trick or treater. I'm pretty sure Jeff and I would end up eating these candies. Happy Halloween, everyone!!!

Last Tuesday, the truck’s windshield is covered with thick frost and there’s no way that I could see through it and drive. I was worried because I found out about it when I had to leave for work so I thought there will be no time to defrost it. I may have been the only one at work on that day who had called in and notified them that I’d be late because I could not see through my windshield, hehehe! Living here in the US most of their lives, for sure they’ve already anticipated stuff like that from cold weather. One of them even suggested that I should get a De-Icer to make it even faster and easier to get rid of the ice and frost on the windshield. I’m glad they’d understand my predicament. My boss didn’t even make me use my sick hours to cover for the 1 hour late that I incurred on that day. I gave him my absentee form and he told me not to worry about it and that he’ll take care of it. I had checked my time clock later that day and true to his word, he reset my log- in time as if I came there on time. Thank you, Bosing! I was more prepared the next day though. Before Jeff had to leave for work, he had the truck running for a few minutes and it took care of the icy stuff on the truck. Haaayy! I dread winter so much now that I'll have to drive every morning. I hope it's not going to be that bad.

We celebrated our first wedding anniversary by spending the weekend out of town. We spent the night on a nice hotel and ate on a buffet style Filipino restaurant in Fayetteville. It's my first time to visit that Filipino store and I'm so glad that Jeff took me there. I missed my mom's cooking. I am learning how to cook but still I haven't tried cooking Menudo, Chicken Curry and Sinigang na Baboy which were part of the menu. We stopped by a pretty state park and we enjoyed ourselves in admiring the views and of course taking photos. We did a little shopping too as I just can't seem to leave a new place without paying a visit to their mall, hehehe. Anyway, below are some of the photos of our short trip.
I love the view

When you're in a serious relationship, at some point in that relationship you wonder when will your boyfriend proposes marriage. On the guys' part, they usually think of a perfect moment and a memorable way of asking their girlfriends for marriage. I have my own story to tell when Jeff proposed to me 2 years ago. It was in the romantic city of Baguio and I still gush everytime I remember that wonderful evening. We didn't make any public scene, ok! Hehe. We're both not that type of person. But it truly was memorable for the two of us.
The reason why I suddenly talk about marriage proposal here is because I recently saw a video of a guy proposing on air to her long time girlfriend. I think that was unique and I thought of sharing it with you, guys. It was a public display, alright, but the sincerity is still there and it affected me in a very nice way. Ok, I admit, I am a hopeless romantic gal, lol! Watch the video to see what I'm talking about.

If you haven’t found the right ONE for you, you might want to give online dating a chance. There are bunches of online dating sites but I would recommend True.com to everyone. It is a typical dating site where you can search for free for women or men to correspond with but the absolute catch here which is really important is the fact that they took precautionary measures to avoid as much as possible having to meet somebody that are either married or convicted felons. They made it clear in their Code of Ethics that married people and criminals are NOT welcome to their website. But of course that wouldn’t stop these people from joining but True.com assures they have their way of knowing and that these people will be sorry if True.com catches them. Another cool thing about this site is that they offer tips and advices about love, relationships and online dating through their articles. If you haven’t found your Prince Charming or Princess yet, sign up for free at True.com.

But after searching for more wedding inputs online, I came across with a forum that talks about Cebu weddings and there I saw another perfect venue for a simple and romantic setting. The place is Chateau de Busay, a haven that is nestled on top of a hill with a breathtaking view of lush green mountains and overlooking the magnificent city of Cebu. Ok, I must admit, I am a sucker for a great, romantic view. By looking at my choices, you probably realized it by now.

I wanna share a little secret here in this post. There’s only a few close people who know about this so this might be a surprise to most of you here. Back in 1996, my youngest sister, who was 6 yrs. old back then represented Cebu City in Eat Bulaga’s Little Miss Philippines. She didn’t make it to the Finals but it paved the way for a supposedly showbiz opportunity for her, had we been committed to leave Cebu and start from scratch in the busy city of Metro Manila which we didn't do. I hope my sister won’t kill me for divulging this little info about her. Anyway, she joined workshops and auditions, and was included as one of the movie extras in the movie, DO RE MI playing one of the choir kids. There was no dialogue but that scene alone took us one whole day at the location shoot. We've met all the major stars in that movie and we even shared dressing rooms and restrooms with them. The funny part of it was my mom and I were even captured by the camera as it zoomed in Mikee Cojuangco while she was walking down the audience seating area as part of the movie scene. I don’t have dreams to be in the movies or anything like that but I just think it’s cool that I once witnessed a movie shoot and was even remotely involved.

Even if I still have to go to work today, it still felt really special and different. My mom and my sister called me first thing in the morning to greet me a Happy Birthday. They may be million miles away but it warms my heart to know that they remember this day. My friends back in the Philippines didn't fail to greet me as well. I got a couple of cards from my best Multiply buddies namely Eden, Wena and Jowen too. There might be more but I just probably haven't received them yet. I am really so thankful for all the greetings, guys!
My babe staged little surprises for me when I got home. He actually took a leave from work to prepare all these for me. I'm so overwhelmed by his love and effort to show that I am special. He's got some small gifts for me but what really surprised me is the strawberry-chocolate home-made cake that he baked today. Hahaha! I didn't expect it. I mean hubby doesn't bake that much. I know he loves to bake and all that but he told me himself that he's not very good at it. But the effort alone melts my heart. The cake doesn't really look fancy unlike the ones that you see from the stores but as I've said the time, effort and love that he'd put into it are priceless. I love how it tasted. It's chocolatey with a little hint of strawberry flavored covering. It's yummy. Once again, he showed me in a lot of ways that I'm very important in his life. I so love that about him.
Some gifts from hubbyA pink alarm clock. We already had one but I need another one for me 'coz after he leaves for work, I would go back to sleep and change the alarm settings and we would change it back again in the evenings, hehe
Birthday Card with a very loving message
It matches perfectly with my rings
This is definitely one of my best birthday ever. Thanks again to all my friends, my family and my Jeff. I have to end this 'coz we're still going out for dinner. I thought the celebration ends here but apparently, it doesn't. Hehehe!

I've always loved to watch movies. I don't necessarily watch all of them on the big screen but I at least rent it at Video City every chance I got. I thought that I would no longer be able to watch Tagalog films now that I am here in the U.S., but I am thankful for those kind Filipinos here who would take the precious time to upload DVDs of Tagalog movies so that somebody like me can watch it for free over the internet.
I am specifically excited to watch Judy Ann Santos' latest film Mag-ingat Ka sa Kulam. Cinema Evaluation Board gave it an A-rating, an addition to Juday's line up of A-rated films like Ouija, Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo, Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo, and her self-produced movie Ploning. "Kulam" is Regal Films 48th anniversary offering and is set to hit the theaters on October 1, 2008. It is written and directed by Jun Lana.
