Busy..Tired.. but Happy!

Today is Thursday but it sure feels like Friday to me. I'm so looking forward for the long weekend ahead, that's probably why I feel that I'd like to fast forward the days then pause when Monday comes so I don't have to go back to work just yet. Hehehe! Oh, I so missed my lazy days at home for the past 10 months. But I'm happy that I have work and I'm earning money right now anyway. Confusing, huh!

We have a small plan for the weekend. Actually, tomorrow is the start of it. Jeff's gonna drive me to work and pick me up at lunch so we could eat together. Then, after work, he has to pick me up again and we're going to have a date. We would probably go and see a movie after a dinner in a new restaurant in Clarksville (20 mins from home). We plan on going to Little Rock (2 hrs. from home) on Saturday as well. Hay! I'm so thankful that hubby takes the time to unwind and do stuff outside the house. I used to worry that if we both have jobs, we might just lose quality time together but I'm happy that we still are willing to take the time to do fun things during our day offs.

Now I am rambling. Hehehe. I have to go back to my EC dropping before I'd feel sleepy and tired. I'm reading a book by Julie Garwood lately and I make sure that I read at least two chapters before I go to sleep. Well, well, well... So much things to do... Anyway, hope we all have a fun weekend.

True Love Tag

A tag from Eds and Sheng. Thanks my friend and sorry for the late posting. Just been busy at work lately.

* What does true love mean to you? --> True love for me means trusting the person and committing yourself to him for the rest of your life.

* How do you know you’re really in love? --> When your days are consumed with thoughts about him, when you can still smile even when you're having a bad day, when you're willing to sacrifice and compromise something for that person.
* How many times in your life have you fallen in love? --> I thought I've fallen in love with some of the people that I had relationships with but I realized most of it were just infatuations. So I must say I've fallen really in love once.
* Have you ever fallen out of true love because you were mad at the moment? --> No. Just as what my husband would always tell me if we have fights, we never should stop loving each other even if we're unhappy about things.
* Do you feel love and physical attraction are the same thing? --> No. Physical attraction goes away but staying in love truly is a decision that we have to make everyday.
* If your true love became ill or disfigured would you continue to love them the same way? --> Yes. For sickness or in health, I'll stay in love with my true love.
* Should anyone else be able to tell you who to love or not love? --> No. Nobody can control my emotions but me. Nobody can dictate me who to love or not to love. This is my life, I'll make my own decisions.
* Do you believe people that ended up divorced were ever truly in love? --> Probably, yeah. But as I've said, staying in love is a decision, we can be in love today but subconsciously decided not to continue loving the person or not putting an effort to the relationship, then that could end up the relationship.
* Would you do anything for love? --> Yes, as long as it's not contrary to my morals.
* If you truly love someone, do you feel it should be unconditional? --> Yes, absolutely!

Veggies for a healthy diet

I got some inspiration to cook healthy last night. It's my first ever attempt to cook vegetables for dinner. I am not a veggie type of a person that's why I never really bother to learn recipes with lots of veggies on it. But as I've said for some reason, I was encouraged to try cooking Chopsuey. It took a while to prepare and cook it but I'm thankful to my hubby for assisting me last night. It was actually him who cut the veggies and everything, all I did was the actual cooking. I came home an hour late last night as I had to temporarily switch schedule with a co-worker due to his personal needs. But anyway, yeah, it was fun making Chopsuey especially that hubby was there helping me out with the preparation. It was a lot of food for the two of us to eat in one sitting but we both liked it. It may not taste like the Chopsueys in fancy restaurants back home but it sure is healthy and edible, hehehe.

while waiting for it to simmer (halfway cooked)

this looks cooked to me so after I took this shot, we had our hearty dinner

All-Time High

After a month of being an Entrecard member, my blog reached an all-time high of 148 drops as of 8:00 P.M. yesterday. I was surprised in a good way. I mean I'm not really a dedicated EC dropper. In as much as I'd love to drop at least 300 cards per day as some people would do, I just didn't have the luxury of time to do it. So I just make sure that I reciprocate all my drops for the day and that's it. I usually have an average of 50+ drops daily and I am happy with that. It makes me land on the 20% of bloggers as per my Real Rank is concerned. I'm quite content with that. Opportunities still come my way and my Alexa is increasing gradually. But yesterday was a unique day as I got an overwhelming number of droppers. I must admit EC dropping can be addicting, no wonder some people really make a career out of it, but I simply just don't have the time. I can only drop 30 minutes in the morning before work and an hour or so in the evening after work. But I can say that I am glad that I became an Entrecard member. It was a fun experience reading interesting blogs and seeing my Real Rank goes up higher. Thanks to all my regular droppers.

Fender Un-Benders

Do you remember the recent TV show on Comedy Central, "American Auto Body"? Well, the exact opposite of those guys is what you’ll find when you surf on over to auto body in search of a body repair expert to un-pimp your ride, fix the artistic key-scratch job in your paint, or pull the impressions out of the hood that the last deer you saw left behind. They are the CSI of auto repair!

Recent photos of my cute nephew

He used to be just a cute, little boy. Taking photos of him used to be a hit and miss. I was totally surprised when I saw recent photos of Bren, my cute nephew, from their recent trip to Ohio. He seems to grow much much faster that I wouldn't be surprised if he will look so big the next time I'll see him in person. Bren is so comfortable in front of the camera. My sister said that everytime you tell him it's time for pictures, he would readily go to one corner and project to the highest level, hehe. Oh boy, he's so cute and adorable.

On impulse

I bought this green Guess purse when I had my first paycheck a couple of weeks ago. I actually didn't intend to buy a purse while me and Jeff went out shopping that week, but as I was browsing through every corner of Dillard's, I saw a rack of branded purses that were on sale. So I was tempted to take a look and finally decided to get this one even if it's only work clothes that I originally planned to buy. Well, you could say I am an impulse buyer at times but I try not to be but sometimes I just couldn't stop myself especially if the items are nice and are on sale. Typical of husbands to ask what are we gonna do with more purses, clothes and shoes, Jeff kinda wondered why I still buy more purses when I already have plenty at home. I smiled and told him that this one is of a different color and style and it's on sale and it's Guess. Hehehe. Well, whatever your little heart desires was how he ended the conversation. (*smiles)

Friday Ramblings

It has been hectic for the past 24 hours for me and Jeff. Last night, after spending only a little over an hour at the house after work, he has to leave me again to attend a meeting for a labor group. We thought it's only gonna last for an hour but it turned out that it was 2 hours instead and the drive back and forth took another 2 hours. Even if I have work the next day, I had to stay late and wait on him 'coz I am not used to sleeping alone anymore and I just couldn't sleep knowing that my husband is still out there. So I waited, and to while away the time, I watched "Desperadas" on the internet. It's a fun, kikay movie which starred Ruffa G., Iza C., Rufa Mae and Marian Rivera. And by the way, it's from S1kat's Site in Multiply and he's got lots of new videos uploaded regularly.

Going back on my first subject, we slept later than the usual last night and the crazy part is he has to get up early 'coz he decided to work overtime on a Friday since I am also working today. I mean we both think that since we can't spend the time together anyway, he might as well accept the overtime work that was offered. The result was I was missing him the whole day and there was nobody to pick me up at lunch and after office hours as well. I drove myself to work and home and I spend eating lunch alone. Poor me! Anyway, we have 2 full days to spend time together and we're going to make use of that. It's great to work and earn money but we don't want it to be the cause of lesser quality time spent together. So we're not gonna do this a whole lot.

The Server is Down

This would be one of the major reasons why we get a lot of calls in the Helpdesk Line. Let me tell you, it's so crazy, the phones are ringing off the hook, bunch of voicemails that we have to take care as soon as the server is up and running again. The first time that it happened since I started working, I was literally about to cry from tension and pressure. But after a while, this has been one of my favorite moments at work because I don't really have to spend much time with my caller or dwell on the issue longer since I only have to tell them that we have server issues and that we're currently working on it.

I remember when I used to work in a data processing company back home, our systems department have dealt with a number of server issues as well. I was part of a small team who needed IT assistance back then. But now I am part of a team who gives IT assistance to a humongous banking group. I mean it's so overwhelming, I didn't even know how did I get here but I am thankful for this rare opportunity. I explored a totally different arena, so to speak. And it's giving me the chance to develop myself even more.

I can say that I eventually learn to like my job now. I'm learning a lot of things and I'm starting to enjoy and appreciate the things surrounding my work and my work place. On my future posts, I'm gonna talk about the things that I love about my work. My friends and family are right. In time, I'll get the hang of it and I just couldn't believe that it's happening sooner than I had expected.

Auto Fix from the Experts

A car accident is something that we would try our very best to avoid. But as they say, accidents happen even when you least expect it. And if that happens, we may want to repair our cars back to its pre-accident condition. ‘Collision repair experts’ does auto body repair. There might be many auto body shops to choose from, but of course, we would want the experts in the field of auto repair to do it. Don’t take any chances. Choose the expert.

Petro, Wire and Steel - The Elite Steel Suppliers

Bank of the Ozarks is expanding and our office is actually situated next to the new building that’s under construction. On my first week at work, we can see from the glass walls the construction guys who were putting up frames and steel for the building foundation. It was pretty interesting to look at. It’s not done manually of course but when you see it first hand how a building is constructed, you’d get interested. That’s when I started to wonder where are these steels coming from. Then I learned that Petro, Wire and Steel is the premier stainless steel supplier based in Houston, Texas. They are considered the premier source for steel wire cloth, perforated sheet metal, expanded metal, bar grating and fiberglass grating. There’s actually more so if you can just visit their site, you might be interested to do business with them.

For The First Time

I've always find KC Concepcion pretty, smart and talented. And I think this new movie of her and Richard Gutierrez is gonna be a blockbuster. Two of the most famous and good looking celebrities in this generation, it's gonna be fun to watch them on the big screen via their first tandem on Star Cinema's For The First Time. The trailer looks very nice. Everyone shouldn't miss this beautiful tandem in a movie made perfectly for the two of them.

First Paycheck Fun

I was so happy and excited to get my first ever paycheck last Friday. It's been a while since I last earned money with my own sweat and I feel proud that I was able to do something for Jeff out from my own pocket. I took him out to dinner last night. We ate at T.G.I. Friday's and we both think the food was yummy. I ordered Sizzling Chicken and Shrimp, I can't remember what was his but I got a nibble and it was also delicious then we ordered Vanilla Bean Cheesecake for dessert. I love the cozy environment of the resto and of course the food and service was great and I was glad that it all came out perfect.

Prior to eating, I've shopped a little bit for more work clothes and checked out for laptops as well. Yeah, I need a laptop for my blogging needs. Hehehe. Since both of us are now working, we had to take turns in using the computer which doesn't really give us much time since we both got home at 5:00 P.M. Jeff loves to play computer games and I always have to do my bloghopping and update blogs and do sponsored posts so we really need to have two computers.

While I was shopping, Jeff went to Walden Books to grab a new book and I didn't expect that he'll get something for me. On our way home, I find a card inside the bag where my new clothes were and I was so surprised 'coz there was a sweet message there and all that. I was like, "How did you do all these?" I mean I wasn't away for very long, but he took the time that he was away from me to buy me a card, went back to the truck and write a sweet message on it and managed to insert it in one of the shopping bags that he carries for me. Wow, my hubby is really the best. He always makes me feel special in his own little ways and I so love that about him.

I can't live without it

If we were to move to another planet because planet Earth is destroyed, what would I bring with me? Well, it’s a multi-faceted question. I can think of so many different things that I should bring with me if ever I have to move to another planet. But I think the most important one is to bring my own supply of oxygen. I want to enjoy whatever it is that’s on the other side of the universe and I bet if there’s not enough air to breathe, I wouldn’t live very long, would I? How about you? What would you take with you if you have to move?

You might probably think why I talk about universe and moving and all that stuff. This has got something to do with the most interactive game site in the web,
Operation Immortality: Leave your mark. Save Humanity. I tried visiting their site and I think the web features were so cool and out of this world. If you sign up, you’ll get the chance to play the free game, Tabula Rasa. You’ll get to do plenty of fun stuff in this web site. If you even want to be heard, you can become a member and leave a message to the universe as part of the game. Trust me, it’s interesting. Go now and play it for free.

The Beautiful Western Part of Colorado

I've been wanting to post photos from our Denver trip a couple of weeks ago but there's just so much going on that I can't keep up with my personal blog updates. But since today is Friday, which means no work tomorrow, then I can blog my heart out without having to worry about staying up late.

If I remember that trip well, Colorado is a state like no other that I've seen just yet. I've been to Illinois and Missouri, I've lived in Arkansas, we've driven through Oklahoma and Kansas and I must say the western part of Colorado is a must-see. I was simply amazed by the beautiful rocky mountains there. While we were on our way to Denver, we saw the faint silhouette of the huge mountains up ahead and it really tripled my excitement. It was officially a work-related trip for hubby but that didn't stop us from spending a couple of days checking out what Colorado has to offer. I'll have to stop rambling here and just allow you to be captivated with the pictures that I'm going to share in this post.

Our world is not a perfect place to live in. As time passes by, we are confronted with scientific and ecological problems. As ordinary individuals, how can you make a difference? Do you even bother to pause and think about the state of our world? Can we do something to preserve our universe for our children and our children’s children? That is a million-dollar question. Personally, I am not even sure where to start. One of the Mahatma Gandhi quotes struck me a while ago. If I may just quote: "You must be the change you wish to see in the world". Short and simple but full of relevance especially in today’s world.

I think he’s right. If only we would realize that in order for everything to change, we must start it from us. We couldn’t expect the rest of the world to be different if we ourselves don’t change from our old ways. I am almost done reading Anne Frank’s Diary. One of the things she’s written in her diary that moved me was when she wishes to be remembered even after her death. I wish each of us should be able to leave a mark in this world. That we might not be just plain dwellers but people who’ll made an impact for the betterment of the human race. I encourage you to check out

We need someone we can count on,
and treat us nice.

We need friends to remember us
one we have passed
sharing memories that will always last.

Spread the poem of friendship.

Spread the Love

Work gets better each day

Unlike last week, I feel better about work lately. I still don't know much about my job but at least there's another person who's starting out this week who also seems to be clueless about the bank's computer applications so that makes two of us now, hehehe. Seriously, I'm learning bits and pieces every now and then. Of course I want to grasp everything but our mind can only take so much information. I still do get frustrated at times but I no longer cry when I get home. I know this is part of learning and I'm sure I'll get better as days go by. I am starting to appreciate lots of things about my job and I'm going to talk about it on my next post. Have a good night everyone!

Banzai...Get your Chopsticks Ready!

ScreenLife Games is at it again. They launched a new Banzai game. Check it out:

I was surprised to get a package from IZEA last week. It was a free Banzai DVD game by Screenlife Games. We didn’t get to try and play it until last night and we’re glad that we did. It was a fun and crazy game. I’ve never actually played a Japanese game before and I’m surprised that I did enjoy it. We both read and watch the mechanics of the game on dvd but it didn’t make sense at first until we actually played it. One of the things that I enjoyed about it is the use of chopsticks. I’ve never used one in my entire life and Jeff used to brag that he did know how to use chopsticks but I found out last night that I can use chopsticks better than him. Sorry, my love, I have to divulge that info in my post. Hehe. While we were actually betting during the game, it just suddenly dawned on me the technique to hold the chopsticks so I can transfer lots of sushis into my bowl. I am so glad that I now know how to use one.

Photobucket

Now about the game itself, there are funny and crazy dares or events that took place in the game but I guess our most favorite was the Umbrella Roullette. We both got a kick out of watching the guy chose the umbrella that kinda’ punch him on the face. Even the guy himself got totally surprised and laugh at himself. If at this point you grow curious as to what game I am talking about, check Banzai online and visit Tako’s My Space page at myspace.com/takotheocto. I can guarantee that it’s loads of fun.

We're Partners for Life

I might be going through a very difficult adjustment period right now when it comes to my work and managing home affairs but the whole thing makes me and my husband appreciate each other more. Even when I was still not working, Jeff would never leave me doing all the household chores by myself. We're partners in whatever things we do. Say, I do laundry, he would volunteer to fold the clean clothes. When I wash dishes by hand, he would do the rinsing but later on, I told him not to bother 'coz rinsing the plates isn't that hard to do at all. (By the way, we have a dishwasher but I prefer not to use it since it's just the two of us and washing dishes isn't that hard and it's better not to be totally accustomed to American lifestyle. Hehehe. But don't get me wrong, I no longer wash clothes by hand since I got here, I'm too lazy for that. Hehehe) Now that I have work, he still is very supportive and helpful. He understands the hardships I'm going through right now and he tries to do things that would make things a bit easier for me. Last Friday which was the start of his weekend off and yeah, I worked on Fridays, he vacuumed the house and do the dishes. He dropped me off to work in the morning and picked me up at work at lunch so we can eat out together. I appreciate my husband so much for all the wonderful things he has done for me. I may not have my whole family here with me, but Jeff is just always there for me no matter what and he never ceases to support me in whatever I do. I feel so lucky and blessed that I am one of those Filipinas who have very good provider and supportive husbands. I don't regret at all that I took a step forward in exploring a world outside our home because I found out how much I appreciate and love my dearest Jeff.

Drive your dream car

Driving a vehicle here in the United States is a necessity. You don’t have any means to get around to any place if you don’t drive one. For now, since we live very close to where Jeff works, we don’t need to own another vehicle just yet. But we’re anticipating the need for me to own a car if we decide to move which is part of our short-term goals. As early as now, I’ve been checking out what is the best one for me. I used to like SUVs but with the rising of the oil prices, we don’t think it would be the right choice for me. Right now, I dream of owning a red Pontiac Vibe or a red Chevy Malibu. Auto123 is the best place to shop around. There you can find car reviews and ratings. Whether you plan to buy used car or a new one, check out their web site and you'll see great options. Kick Ass Blogger Award

I find this award cute. Thanks to my fellow Arkansan, Theresa for passing this on to me. I am sorry for the late posting. Things just have been crazy lately with work. But I am truly honored that you even think of giving me this award. By the way, I think this originates from Mammadawg. Visit this site as well, if you may.

I'm passing this on to my regular readers. Feel free to grab this as I think you all deserve to be called "Kick Ass Bloggers".

Capturing sunset

I took this shot while we were on our way to Denver. I've always loved sunsets and I think they look very romantic. I just find it pretty amazing that I got this one wonderfully despite the fact that we're on a moving vehicle.

Meet the Sproutwells

I remember when I was a kid, my parents used to tell me that kids should eat lots of fruits and vegetables to be strong and healthy but I guess not all people like to eat veggies. If I’d be asked what kind of vegetable I would like to be, I think my answer would be Lettuce. I like the fact that lettuce can be used in your salads and hamburgers. You can eat it raw and it still tastes good. I’ve actually found a cute and funny video about sproutwells. They are basically your typical fruit and veggie family living among humans, trying to fit in our world. Now, isn’t that cute? Try to check it out for yourself and if you think they are cute, you can grab them from youtube and paste it in your page as well.

Getting ready for work

This is me on my way to work. I just thought I might share some of my work photos here. I don't usually dress up like this but since I am working in a bank and we follow certain dress codes, I try to dress nice and professional. No jeans of any kind are allowed in the office so I figure I'll have to buy more office clothes from now on. I didn't have much since back in my previous job, we can just wear anything that we feel like wearing. And another thing is I gain weight since I got here so some of my old nice clothes won't fit anymore, yikes! Hehehe. I really love to shop but probably from now on, I'd concentrate on getting work clothes more than anything else.

Is diet pills an option?

Losing weight has been a goal of mine for quite some time now. From some of the internet articles that I’ve read, some people burn more calories faster than others. It’s just disappointing sometimes on my part because there seems to be no result no matter how I tried to diet and exercise. Well, I probably haven’t tried enough but sometimes I think there must be other methods of losing weight like taking diet pills. I know of some people who do take pills but I am also aware of the fact that it can be dangerous and risky. As much as possible, I’d like to stick to a healthy diet and exercise but maybe there are pills out there that’s not really that bad. It’s just a matter of finding the right one for you. But personally, I don't know if I'd like to even try.

My Woes

This has been a tough week for me. My daily schedule and routine has been totally messed up. I like the fact that I am finally getting out of the house to work, however, I find it disorienting to face the challenge of juggling work and home affairs. Before, when I didn't work yet, dinner was always ready before 6:00 p.m., but now that I got a job, I can't even start to prepare dinner until after 6:00 o'clock. Both Jeff and I go home at 5:00 p.m. and he always wanted to help with housework and all that but still we both usually feel very tired after work that sometimes I'd rather just go to bed than eat dinner. I'm actually curious to hear from anybody who do work as to what are their secrets so that they don't have to eat dinner as late as 9:00 p.m. even if they are working.

Now, I'm gonna talk about my job. I basically answer calls concerning computer problems from bank employees for our 76 branches. We have an IS Trouble Shooting Handbook that tells me what I'm supposed to do whenever a particular problem comes up. Most of it requires administrator rights so they really need us to do it but some of it can just be solved simply by closing and re-opening their applications which they don't even think of doing before calling for help. My first week was awfully hard. I didn't have the technical knowledge on trouble shooting computers so I really had to start from scratch. There's really nobody there assigned to guide me or teach me all the way through how to do it which makes it all the more harder for me, however, there's like 3 or 4 people there that I can always go up to and ask for help. On my 5th day, things are starting to make sense and I feel a little comfortable taking calls. But on the first few days, I'd always come home whining, feeling frustrated and sad. Oh boy, what a big adjustment I had to make. I have a hard time with their accent, the pronunciation and spelling of American names and their locations. Nobody's being rude or anything to me yet though especially when I tell them that I'm just starting out but this whole experience is very different and very challenging. I'm gonna be very proud of myself if I'll be able to make it through to at least 3 months. I'm learning new and important stuff about computers and despite the hardships that this job entails, I think this is a good training ground for me if I wanted to continue to be in the Information Systems industry.

Lap Band can be a weight loss option

I’ve never really considered surgery as a means to lose weight. I mean I’m just simply scared of the procedure no matter how safe they can be. But I know there are a lot of people who take risks and would even resort to surgery for weight loss. If you’re one of them and you need to know more about lap band procedures, check out Journeylite.com. Lap Band System is the only weight-loss surgery that is completely reversible and adjustable – for life. If you’re interested, visit their web site.

Top 10 Bridges in the World

When we went to Colorado, we visited Royal Gorge Bridge in Cañon City. It was a 2-hour drive from Denver but I really made sure that we stopped by there. I was awed by the 360 degrees marvelous views that we saw from the bridge. But anyway, this blog isn't about Royal Gorge, hehe. I was just gonna say that I was inspired to post pictures of the Top 10 World Bridges which was featured by the Travel Channel. I find these bridges amazing and wonderfully constructed. I wish I can visit to each of them but that might be too expensive, hehehe. The pictures are from Top 1 to 10.
