What is Mesothelioma?

The term is unfamiliar to me and perhaps to most of us. I was researching something on a health page when I came across with the term. I thought it’s a kind of a diet pill or any health product. I’ve learned that mesothelioma is a form of cancer that is almost always caused by previous exposure to asbestos, which on the other hand, is a naturally occurring silicate mineral with long, thin fibrous crystals. Asbestos became increasingly popular among manufacturers and builders in the late 19th century due to its resistance to heat, electricity and chemical damage. I’m just wondering if construction sites still use asbestos nowadays. It sure sounds hazardous to health so I hope they no longer use it.
